It wears a mask meant to scare you
With a face underneath that whispers desires of discovery

It digs at your every fear
And tugs at the deepest insecurities
While promising mercy once they’ve been found

It is a humble companion
A privileged constituent
Of what makes you wholly and completely you

The thing about vulnerability is
It is a door
That opens your heart when pride demands it closed.
